Porsche 911 2.2 Signal orange

Project description

This 911 2.2T from October 1970 arrived at our workshop with the aesthetics of a 911 from the G series (1974-1989). This type of modification was very common in the 1980s and many Pre-73 models were updated to the look of the 911 SC and 911 Carrera 3.2 of the time.

The restoration process began by completely disassembling the vehicle and peeling off all the red paint from the body to leave the car as a sheet metal. During this process we find traces of his original Signal Orange paint. When starting to reassemble the car, the narrow wings of the model and all the original parts of a 911 Pre-73 were mounted.

The interior also recovered the original aesthetics of the car except for some details that were to the liking of the owner, such as the steering wheel of the 911 2.0 or the leather trim on the dashboard. As a curiosity about this model, comment that when requesting the Porsche Certificate we saw that this unit came out with Recaro seats and with Pepita upholstery from the factory, so it was decided to recover this configuration using a pair of Recaro Sport type seats with Pepita upholstery.

As for the engine, it was improved to increase its performance, although in some details, the originality was maintained, as in the case of the exhaust, the ignition or the carburettors. Normally in these 2.2 engines many owners install Webber carburettors, but in Julià 911 we decided to keep the original configuration with Zenith carburettors. Aesthetically, the chain timing covers were painted black, as were the valve covers. The turbine blades were painted titanium color.

In summary, we are facing a restoration that took more than 1,000 hours of work.
